Scientific, regulatory and management principles applicable to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of physical, chemical, and biological agents and ergonomic and psychological factors associated with illnesses in occupational environments. (Akbar, Lampl)

OCCH 506 Occupational Safety Science, Regulations and Management (3 cr)
Offered: Fall Semester
Scientific, regulatory and management principles applicable to anticipation, identification, investigation and control of mechanical hazards, unsafe work practices, and ergonomic and behavioral factors associated with accidents and injuries in occupational environments. (Akbar, Milz)

OCCH 516 Environmental Health Science, Regulations and Management (3 cr)
Offered: Spring Semester
Scientific, regulatory and management principles applicable to human disease associated with food, water, air and soil contamination. Focus on biology and chemistry of contamination and transformation; exposure monitoring; and contaminant control. (Bisesi, Harrington, Kassa, Keil)

OCCH 526 Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response (3 cr)
Offered: Fall Semester
Scientific, regulatory and managerial principles applicable to characteristics, exposure control, storage, transport and disposal of chemical, biological and radiological agents; accidental and intentional (terrorism) disaster preparedness and emergency response; and, personal protective equipment and site assessment/monitoring. Scientific principles and practices applicable to the toxicology, evaluation, and control of chemical agents associated with human diseases resulting from various environmental exposures. OCCH 541 Air Contaminant Modeling, Ventilation and Respiratory Protection (3 cr)
Offered: Spring Semester
Qualitative and quantitative aspects of air contaminant modeling, local and general ventilation, and respiratory protection for controlling human exposures to hazardous chemical, biological and radiological agents. (Akbar, Milz, Keil, Kumar)

OCCH 552 Biological Agents - Pathogenicity, Evaluation and Control (3 cr)
Offered: Summer Term
Scientific principles and practices applicable to the pathogenicity, evaluation, and control of microbiological agents, parasitic agents, and some biological vectors associated with human diseases resulting from various environmental exposures. Content includes normal/abnormal human physiology relative to exposure, exposure assessment, and exposure control. (Harrington, Parkins)

OCCH 562 Physical Agents - Effects, Evaluation and Control (3 cr)
Offered: Spring Semester
Scientific principles and practices applicable to the potential effects, evaluation, and control of physical agents associated with human diseases resulting from various environmental exposures. Agents include ionizing and nonionizing radiation, noise and vibration, and temperature and pressure extremes. Content includes normal/abnormal physiology, exposure assessment, and exposure control. OCCH 570 Risk Assessment, Management and Communication (3 cr)
Offered: Summer Term
Scientific and mathematical principles of quantitative human health risk assessment including hazard identification, dose-response assessment, human exposure assessment, and risk characterization. Emphasis on practice of risk assessment, management and communication relative to public, environmental, and occupational health and safety. (Milz, Akbar, Bisesi, Keil)

OCCH 600 Public Health Statistics (3 cr)
Offered: Fall & Spring Semesters
An introduction to descriptive statistics including measurement of central tendency, dispersion, relative position, correlation, and regression. Inferential statistical theory, selected nonparametric methods, and application of computers and also occupational exposure assessment will be discussed. (Milz, Akbar)

OCCH 601 Public Health Epidemiology (3 cr)
Offered: Fall & Spring Semesters Prerequisite: College statistics
The course will present principles of the epidemiology method including problem solving. Various study designs will be discussed, including prospective and retrospective studies, analytic, and experimental methods. (Milz, Fink)

OCCH 673 Research in Occupational Health (1-3 cr)
Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
Students will participate in selected ongoing research programs of members of the faculty. May be repeated for credit. Bisesi and Staff

OCCH 689 Independent Study in Occupational Health (1-3 cr)
Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
The student and instructor will agree on a program of study that will enable the student to achieve specific learning objectives. May be repeated for credit. Bisesi and Staff

OCCH 696 Internship in Occupational Health (3 cr)
Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer Semester Prerequisite: Completion of 24 scr. MSOH courses or consent of major advisor
Comprehensive or focused practical training in environmental and occupational health at a designated agency, organization, or company. May be repeated for credit. Graded S/U. Bisesi

OCCH 697 Project in Occupational Health (4 cr.)
Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer Prerequisite: Completion of 12 semester credit hours or consent of advisory committee
Independent development by a student with approval and guidance by a Major Advisor, of a paper, manual, software, etc. applicable to a specific area of environmental and occupational health. May be repeated for credit. Bisesi and Staff

OCCH 699 Thesis Research (4 cr)
Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer Terms Prerequisite: Completion of 12 semester credit hours or consent of advisory committee
Research in occupational health or a related area to fulfill the research requirements for the MSOH degree. Must meet the guidelines established by the College of Graduate Studies. May be repeated for credit. Graded S/U. Bisesi and Staff
