Patricia A. Hogue PhD, PA-C joined the PA Program faculty as Clinical Coordinator in early March, 1997 and was promoted to Program Director and Chair in May, 1999. Dr. Hogue is a graduate of Hahnemann/MCP Physician Assistant Program, received her Master degree from The Chicago Medical School/Finch University of Health Science, and completed her doctoral coursework here at UT. Dr. Hogue brings extensive clinical experience to the UT PA Program in internal medicine and cardiology. She is active in the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants, The Links, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her research interests include minority and women health issues, healthcare disparities and breast cancer.

April Gardner MSBS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Ms. Gardner joined the University of Toledo as a full-time faculty member in August, 2007. She is an alumnus of the Medical College of Ohio Physician Assistant Program (now the UT PA Program) and previously served as adjunct faculty while practicing clinically in family medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, and urology. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. She is currently enrolled in UT’s doctoral program in Higher Education Administration. Her research interests include urology, geriatric medicine, osteoporosis, and eating disorders.

Karen Graham MPAS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Ms. Graham joined the Department in January, 2005. She is a Fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. Her clinical experience includes internal medicine, geriatric medicine, long-term care and neurology. She is currently practicing part-time at the UT Center for Neurological Disorders in the subspecialty of movement disorders. She received her physician assistant training and education at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in Higher Education Administration here at UT. Her research interests are physician assistant education and physician assistant student professional development.

Lorraine L. Kenter MPAS, PA-C is Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor. She joined the faculty in December, 2004. She graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in 1995 then completed a three month didactic and twelve month clinical residency in general and specialty surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, in 1996. Since then she has worked in cardiothoracic-vascular surgery, rural health, trauma and general surgery. During this time she earned a Bachelor of Science in Management of Health Services from Spring Arbor University and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine. Throughout most of this time she served as preceptor to Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner students. S he is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants, where she chairs the Public Relations Committee. Special interests include patient education, hospital patient care and nosocomial infection issues, nutrition and nutritional allergies.

Jay Peterson MSBS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Mr. Peterson joined the faculty at UT in January, 2007. He is an alumnus of the Medical College of Ohio Physician Assistant Program (now the UT PA Program) and returned here after guest lecturing and precepting PA students while working in private practice Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. He continues to work clinically on a part-time basis in Michigan and recently began coursework toward a doctoral degree here at UT. Mr. Peterson is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants, the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. His research interests include: sports medicine & orthopedics, nutrition & supplementation, and osteoporosis.

Jolene Miller MLS is Instructor and Scholarly Project Coordinator in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She joined the department in 1997 and became Scholarly Project Coordinator in 2000. Her administrative appointment is in the Mulford Health Science Library, where she is the Coordinator of Information Services. She received a Bachelor of Biology degree from the Ohio State University in 1991; a Master of Library Science from Kent State University in 1994; Graduate Certificate in Medical and Health Sciences Education from the then-Medical College of Ohio in 2003; and has taken graduate coursework in research and measurement at UT.

Kimberly Bushrow MSBS, PA-C is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Ms. Bushrow joined the program as a part-time faculty member in January, 2008, although she has been involved in precepting PA students on clinical rotations and guest lecturing since 2000. She is an alumnus of the Medical College of Ohio Physician Assistant Program (now the UT PA Program) and serves as adjunct faculty while clinically practicing inpatient pediatrics at Toledo Children’s Hospital. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. Her research interests include pediatrics, laboratory medicine and physician assistant education.
