Events

The M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Toledo on the Health Science Campus has a number of events planned throughout the year for students, faculty, and staff. Most events are open to current and prospective students, faculty, and staff.  M.D./Ph.D. events include: seminars, M.D./Ph.D. student council meetings, M.D./Ph.D. committee meetings, recreational and mixer activities, etc. The content on this page includes information on M.D./Ph.D. program activities and information on various UT seminar series.

M.D./Ph.D. Program Activities
The M.D./Ph.D. Student Council meets on the 1st Friday of each month:
The M.D./Ph.D. student council meets to maintain and improve the M.D./Ph.D. program and to address the needs and concerns of current students in the program.  More specifically, the purpose of these meetings is to plan and schedule M.D./Ph.D. program events (including orientation, regular meetings, joint meetings with the M.D./Ph.D. committee, casual meetings, special events, the annual retreat, etc.), to maintain and update the M.D./Ph.D. website, to address the concerns of M.D./Ph.D. students, to coordinate M.D./Ph.D. student activities with other student activities on campus, and to aid in recruiting talented new students.

The M.D./Ph.D. Program Committee meets regularly throughout the year:

The faculty and staff of the M.D./Ph.D. program hold positions in either the College of Medicine, the College of Graduate Studies, or both.  Representatives from both colleges serve on the M.D./Ph.D. committee, which plays an integral role in the organization of the program.  Among other functions, the M.D./Ph.D. committee provides the program with organization, plays an integral role in the admissions process, and conducts business related to the program.

Seminar Series
All seminars conducted on campus are open to current M.D./Ph.D. students, and most are open to prospective students.  These include seminars by the three Ph.D. programs, by the Distinguished Lecturer Series, by the Molecular Pathogenesis of Cancer Program, by the College of Medicine, and by graduate and medical departmental seminars.  Other presentations include those by tumor board, Department of Medicine, Surgery, and Neurology Morbidity & Mortality and Grand Rounds conferences (M&M and Grand Rounds are not open to prospective students unless permission by the respective department is given prior to attendance), Psychiatry seminars and conferences, etc. For up-to-date calendars of seminars and presentations at the University of Toledo Health Science Campus, follow the web-links listed below.
