FINANCIAL AID CODE OF ETHICS
We financial aid administrators of the University of Toledo Health Science Campus pledge to:
- Help students achieve their educational goals by providing appropriate financial resources,
- Commit to the highest level of ethical behavior and refrain conflict of interest or the perception thereof,
- Respect the dignity and protect the privacy of each student and ensure the confidentiality of student records and personal circumstances,
- Provide services that do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, or economic status,
- Ensure equity by applying all need analysis formulas consistently across the institution’s total population of financial aid applicants,
- Ensure transparency in the administration of student financial aid programs,
- Place no restrictions or barriers to a student’s choice of lenders
- To base lists of preferred, recommended, or suggested lenders solely on the best interests of the student by considering factors such as interest rates, fees, and loan benefits provided by the lender, and the complete and open disclosure of such criteria,
- Refrain from taking any action or participating in any activity for personal benefit,
- Refrain from taking any action believed to be contrary to law, regulation, or not in the best interests of the students we serve,
- Ensure that the information we provide is accurate, without bias, and without preference linked with actual or potential personal gain,
- Refrain from soliciting or accepting anything of other than nominal ($10.00) value from any source involved in the making, holding, consolidating, or processing of any student loans, including anything of value for serving on an advisory board or as a part of any training activity sponsored by any such source,
- Disclose to my institution any involvement with or interest in any entity involved in any aspect of student financial aid,
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism and customer service.
