Health Science Campus Student Life : Surgery Club

The Surgery Club at the University of Toledo is affiliated with the UT Department of Surgery and promotes the education of all medical students with an emphasis on the fields of surgery, radiology and anesthesiology. The club’s activities provide a blend of educational styles: critical thinking for the anatomy mock practical, dexterity and technique in the suturing workshop, observation during the surgery elective, and experiential knowledge from guest speaker lectures. The radiology, anesthesia and orthopedics sections of the club are also affiliated with their respective departments, and supplement the club’s educational objectives through the hosting of workshops and shadowing experiences. Although focused on surgery related topics, these experiences help build the fundamental skills necessary for students to succeed in all fields of medicine.
