Health Science Campus Student Life : Community Care Clinic (CCC) 

The Community Care Clinic (CCC) was established to deliver convenient, quality health care to the under served populations in the Toledo Community. This clinic is located in the Mildred Bayer Clinic for the Homeless.  The CCC is an exciting project that began in April of 1992 to bring together a staff of volunteer health professionals, students and physicians from the Toledo Area to provide free health care to the homeless population of Toledo. The Community Care Clinic strives to raise health care awareness in the Toledo Community while affording its volunteers the opportunity to discover societal issues, practice principles of public health (i.e. health promotion) in an interdisciplinary fashion, and to effect a change in the Greater Toledo Area.

This clinic takes place each Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. and is run by a core board of preclinical students who delegate among themselves all the duties essential to the CCC's operation.  On clinical nights, preclinical and clinical students are paired together and will be the first group to see the patient and evaluate the problem(s). Afterward, they present their findings to the physician preceptor and a mode of treatment is discussed and administered. The CCC is a great opportunity for preclinical students to get "hands-on" experience.
