Student Life Advisory Committee (SLAC)
SLAC is appointed by the Council of Deans of UT and serves as an advisory group to the OSL in support of students and student organizations and activities.
The committee is comprised of faculty, staff and students from each school at UT. Student membership is elected or appointed from each school according to their established guidelines and is represented as follows: two from the College of Health Sciences, two Biomedical Research students (from the College of Graduate Studies), six from the College of Medicine, and two from the College of Nursing.
SLAC responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination of the development of leadership training seminars for all organization officers and advisors with OSL
- Review of all constitutions and by-laws on an annual basis
- Identification of funding procedures for student organizations
- Assistance in editing and updating the Student Organization Handbook and Policy and Procedures Manual
- Selection of awardees for outstanding leadership
- Conducting hearings for unresolved grievances brought by a faculty member, the student body, or a student organization within the scope of OSL
