E. Ishmael Parsai, Ph.D., FARCO, DABR, DABMP

Dr. Ishmael Parsai is currently a Professor of Radiation Oncology, Chief of Medical Physics Division, and the director of graduate radiation oncology medical physics program at the University of Toledo School of Medicine, in Toledo, Ohio. He is also a Professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Toledo where the Ph.D. program in medical physics is offered as a joint collaboration between departments of physics & astronomy and radiation oncology.

 Dr. Parsai has been a practicing medical physicist for over 22 years, board certified by the American Board of Medical Physics (1995), and the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 2006 in Radiation Oncology Physics. Dr. Parsai is a full member of numerous scientific organizations such as the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), the American College of Medical Physics (ACMP), and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) among others. He has authored or co-authored 18 articles published in preferred journals, three book chapters, 14 full articles in conference proceedings, 52 abstracts and a number of paper and poster presentations presented in national or international meetings.

 Dr. Parsai has been serving as the editor of the Medical Physics World, the official bulletin of the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) since 2000. This bulletin has a circulation of over 17000 copies and is distributed in 76 countries around the world. He also has been serving as the chairman of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Physics Commission since 2001. He is the winner of the 2004 Simon Kramer Medal from the American College of Radiation Oncology for dedicated and outstanding service to the college.

 Dr. Parsai serves or has served in many committees or sub-committees of the AAPM, ACMP, and IOMP such as membership in Publication Committee (IOMP), Standards Committee (ACRO), International Scientific Exchange Program (AAPM), Nuclear Medicine Committee (AAPM), Exchange International Scientists Program (AAPM), Professional task force TG-103 (AAPM), and the International Affairs Committee of the AAPM. Dr. Parsai has presented many invited talks locally in United States or abroad most recent ones in the at University of Bangkok, Universita’ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma, in Rome, Italy (2002) and again in (2004), and the World Congress Meeting of Medical Physics in Mashhad University, Iran (2004).
