Dr. John J. Feldmeier is a graduate of Duquesne University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did graduate work in Meteorology and for five years prior to attending medical school was a practicing meteorologist for the United States Air Force. After graduating from medical school in 1979, he completed a rotating internship at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base. He was assigned to the USAF Hyperbaric Medicine Division at Brooks Air Force Base where he completed a fellowship in hyperbaric medicine and became the chief of medical operations. He subsequently completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he was chief resident for 2 years. Dr. Feldmeier was then assigned to the USAF Medical Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he simultaneously served as chairman of the hyperbaric medicine department and chief of the radiation oncology division. 

After separation from the United States Air Force, Dr. Feldmeier joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and ultimately became the residency program director and the chief of the Radiation Oncology Division. In 1992, Dr. Feldmeier joined the faculty of Wayne State University in Detroit where he served as associate residency program director and clinical chief at Grace Hospital. Dr. Feldmeier joined the faculty at the Medical University of Ohio in 1997 as Professor and Associate Chairman. In 1998 he assumed the position of Chairman. 

Dr. Feldmeier s board certified in therapeutic radiation by the American Board of Radiology. He practices general radiation oncology with special
interests in gynecologic oncology, cancers of the head and neck, combined modality therapy and hyperthermia. Dr. Feldmeier serves as a reviewer for several journals and is the associate editor of the journal Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is recognized world wide as an expert in the application of hyperbaric oxygen to radiation injuries.
