- Dr. Beata Lecka-Czernik has been invited to serve as a member of the Organizing Committee for the next American Society for Bone and Mineral Research topical meeting that will be held on New Frontiers in Skeletal Research: Bone, Fat, and Brain Connections. It will be held on April 27-28, 2009, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
- Dr. Beata Lecka-Czernik has been invited as a Speaker for The Obesity Society Annual Meeting, October 3-7, 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona for a session, "Boning up for fat", with a talk entitled, "PPARgama effects on bone and fat".
- Dr. Beata Lecka-Czernik is organizing a session entitled "Bone as an integral part of endocrine system of energy metabolism", which will be held at the 38th International Sun Valley Workshop on Skeletal Tissue Biology in Sun Valley, Idaho, August 5-8. 2008.
- Dr. Beata Lecka-Czernik has been invited as a Speaker for ENDO 2008, Endocrine Society 90th Annual Meeting, June 15-18, 2008, San Francisco, for a session entitled "TZDs: Bad to the Bone" with a talk entitled "Mechanisms of TZD-induced Bone Loss"
