
David Krol MD, MPH, FAAP
Dr. David Krol was appointed Chair of Pediatrics in September 2006. Dr. Krol's appointment completes a medical journey that began many years in Toledo. A native of Northeastern Ohio, Dr. Krol received his B.A. from the University of Toledo. He completed medical school at Yale University. Dr. Krol completed pediatric residency training at Rainbow Babies in Cleveland. He earned an MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Dr. Krol is a nationally recognized expert on children's oral health. Dr. Krol joins us from Columbia University Department of Health Policy and Management. In addition to clinical responsibilities, he is a leader in public advocacy, especially in the arena of children's oral health.
Dr. Krol has received many honors. He was a Soros Advocacy Fellow, Inductee to Who's Who in America 2006, Member of Pediatric Leaders of the 21st Century and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. He has authored numerous publications. A former professional baseball player (Minnesota Twins), Dr. Krol's longstanding advocacy has also been recognized by the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Johnson and Johnson Pediatric Institute.

As the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, I welcome you to our website. We are extremely proud of our residency program and look with excitement to the future of our program and our residents.
As faculty, we take very seriously our responsibility for resident training. The mission of our residency program is to help each individual resident develop a foundation that will help them achieve their personal career goals and enjoy a rewarding career in pediatrics.
Our university, affiliated institution, and community-based physicians are committed to resident education. Our faculty and residents work closely together in a collegial and friendly environment that is especially conducive to learning. Our residents graduate well prepared as clinicians ready to pursue practice, fellowship, or academic opportunities.
