Training and Education

Cultural Competence and Diversity Training
Since 1998, the University of Toledo (UT) on the Health Science Campus, has been involved in a campus-wide Diversity Training Initiative to ensure that employees are valued, respected and included. The required training allows UT faculty, staff and volunteers an opportunity to to increase their awareness and understanding of cross cultural issues by sharing constructive dialogue about various cultures in the context of achieving cultural competence. The training is delivered via an Online Training Module, developed by the Office of Institutitional Diversity, along with the required 4-hour workshop.  Workshops are facilitated by UT internal trainers.

Sexual Harassment and Other Forms of Harassment
The University of Toledo is committed to high standards of professional conduct by all members of the university community, including faculty, students, residents, physicians, volunteers, employees, supervisors, managers executive officers and visitors. The University strictly prohibits harassment directed toward any individual for any reason. UT's harassment policy #3364-50-01 sets guidelines to create a safe and hospitable environment.

Harassment Complaint Form
Additionally, a complaint form can be filled out and delivered to the Office of Institutional Diversity, at two locations:  University Hall, Room, 3770, Main Campus; or Mulford Library Building, Rm. 327, Health Science Campus.

Anti-Harassment Training Program
To ensure that the UT community is knowledgeable about the policy and knows how to take appropriate actions for reporting and resolving complaints of harassment, a mandatory anti-harassment training program has been created.

The program, which includes viewing a 19-minute anti-harassment DVD, reading the harassment policy and taking a short quiz, was created by the Office of Institutional Diversity to make training comprehensive and convenient while fulfilling federal law requirements. The training can be taken online or via DVD and written quiz.

Members of the UT community can use their network username and password to link to the online training from the Monitor Intranet site. Training can take place from any computer connected to the Internet that has speakers and capable of playing RealMedia video files. When training is successfully complete, the viewer completes a quiz online.
