Department of Neurology Awards

 The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, ACGME, has granted full accreditation to the Neurology Residency Program, effective 11/15/2001.

 The American Academy of Neurology has recognized Dr. Noor Pirzada for his excellence in neurologic education and added him to the National Honor Role of Neurologic Teachers in 2002.

 The Arnold P. Gold Foundation presented Dr. Lawrence Elmer with the Leonard Tow 2003 Humanism in Medicine Award in recognition of exemplary compassion, competence, and respect in the delivery of care.

 The Medical University of Ohio selected Dr. Gretchen Tietjen as the recipient of the 2004 Faculty Club Service Award for her dedication and exceptional service to the Medical University of Ohio.

 The Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence went to Dr. Noor Pirzada in 1998, Dr. Gretchen Tietjen in 2001, Dr. Lawrence Elmer in 2003 and Dr. Imran Ali in 2004.

 The Golden Apple Award, determined by vote of the MUO students, went to Dr. Noor Pirzada in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and to Dr. Lawrence Elmer in 2003 and 2004.

 The Association of University Professors of Neurology Award for outstanding success in encouraging students to elect careers in Neurology went to the Department of Neurology at MUO in 2001.  

 We have the only EEG lab in northwest Ohio accredited by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society.
